NPP / NDC · 1992– · Ghana · Competitive Blocs · Electoral party · coding confidence medium
Each axis runs from −10 to +10, with zero a genuine mixed or balanced position rather than an absence of opinion. A score describes a stated position and a governing record; it is not a judgement of merit. What each score means →
Core principles
Two durable parties descended from rival independence-era traditions, alternating in office at almost every second election.
Economic model
Cocoa and gold exports, IMF programmes, free senior secondary schooling since 2017, chronic fiscal stress and a 2022 default.
Organisation of powers
Presidential democracy with genuine alternation, an independent electoral commission and courts that have adjudicated disputed results.
Reading note
Included as a counter-case. West African politics is usually illustrated with coups; Ghana has transferred power between rival parties four times since 1992.
Check a claim about Ghanaian Party Blocs. The interactive atlas measures the distance between any two organisations across all six axes and shows which ones carry the disagreement.
