Strongest case for the claim
The legislature removed the constitutional chamber judges and the attorney general in a single session in 2021. The reconstituted court then authorised consecutive re-election despite an explicit constitutional prohibition. A state of exception suspending due process has run continuously since March 2022, with around two percent of the adult population detained.
Strongest case against
He was elected, re-elected with the largest margin in the country's history, and holds approval ratings above eighty percent. The homicide rate fell by more than ninety percent. Elections are held and observed, opposition parties exist and contest them.
