Strongest case for the claim
One party has governed since 1959. Defamation actions have bankrupted opposition politicians, constituency boundaries are revised by a body reporting to the prime minister, and the group representation system raises the barrier to entry. Press freedom rankings are consistently low.
Strongest case against
Elections are genuinely contested, opposition parties hold parliamentary seats continuously since 1981 and won a group constituency in 2011, the vote share is real and has moved substantially, and no candidate is barred from standing.
What the coordinates show. The PAP scores +06 on authority, not +10. Around eighty percent of residents live in public housing built by the state, and the economy is among the most open on earth: economics +05. The interesting finding is not the label but the combination — Singapore occupies a coordinate that most theories of development say should not exist.
