Strongest case for the claim
Net-zero migration, withdrawal from the European Convention on Human Rights, offshore processing, and opposition to net zero and to what it calls institutional capture. On culture and membership it scores in the same band as the continental radical right.
Strongest case against
It has no paramilitary tradition, no anti-constitutional programme, and contests elections in an ordinary way. Its economic programme — a £20,000 income tax threshold, deregulation, NHS insurance elements — is market-liberal, which puts it in direct opposition to the National Rally and the PVV on the axis those parties have moved furthest on.
What the coordinates show. Reform UK scores +07 on economics; the National Rally scores −01 and the PVV −01. They are eight points apart on the axis, which is the same gap as separates the UK Conservatives from Die Linke. Grouping them as one family is accurate on culture and membership and wrong on economics, which is where the European radical right has actually been changing.
